What are you eating?

A few little clips on what we've been eating while on this great adventure together.

Yesterday was our last show in Tokyo followed by a Gala put on by our presenter along with the entire production staff, TV Tokyo and local artists.  It was a beautiful event (video and photos to come!).  We followed that with a hilarious night at karaoke.  Today, we flew to Sapporo and are headed to a baseball game tonight.  Enjoy!

We had an exciting day today with Maggie and Tyler in Tokyo doing promotional performances on national TV and the rest of the cast heading to Fukuoka via ferry.  When we got to our hotel, some of the dancer's families were there to greet us!

Enjoy the little video of the happenings both before and after our show in Maysuyama!

Motomiya City - 7/5/2012

Today we had a powerful experience in Motomiya city.  It is a neighboring town of Fukushima which was devastated by the tsunami in March 2011.  Some of the survivors from Fukushima were displaced to Motomiya into government housing after the radiation leak.  They've lost their personal belongings, money, homes, families.

Our presenter, Toshitake, wanted to give the community an opportunity to see the performance and learn Irish dance and music.  So Toshitake, Trinity and the Different Drums of Ireland donated their time to spend the day with the people of Motomiya.

As one audience member told Roy, her heart hadn't been touched by music until our performance since the disaster.

We couldn't have asked for a better day with our Trinity, Different Drums and Japanese family.

Show #1 Recap

Hello all! We are about to leave for our outreach day in Motomiya and could not be more excited to spend the day with families impacted by the tsunami.  Colleen, Maggie, and Tyler are staying behind to perform on a national television show.

We had our first show yesterday at 1:00 pm for a group of students.  Needless to say, it was unlike any other Japanese crowd we have ever danced in front of.  The curtain opened for Out of the Woods, and we heard gasps from the crowd which turned into cheers.  When Tyler came out for his first slot in Step About, the crowd fell in love with him {he's also never jumped higher in his life}. The buzz continued throughout the rest of the show and straight into the lobby.  The groups of students were extremely energetic and could not get enough pictures with the dancers and the band.  Mark was even swarmed for pictures.

The bus just pulled up....and we're off!!

Plane ride CHICAGO - TOKYO

T-Minus 14 Hours

After a long but productive day in the theater, we are now just 14 short hours away from our first performance.  It was great to have all the Trinity dancers and Different Drums of Ireland on stage with the support of Dustin, Joe, Mark, Ellen & the wonderful Japanese crew.
